Interesting Extended Champ on Aussy E-bay at the moment

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/1954-Austin-C...item3cb14ee1eb

Never ceases to amaze me at the work that goes in to some of these home made hardtops, this one appearrs to be Land rover based and is quite neat. Would not be surprised if the extension was done to match the top.
Rich.

champ

Was wondering when this champ would make an appearance.
That hardtop does look very good indeed Richard.
So what was the purpose of the extention?

The extension?

Conjecture on my behalf.
  1. This was not done by the RAAF(that bit is not conjecture)
  2. No tailgate on a champ, many rears were cut and modified to remedy this
  3. On one hand a nice waterproof Landy roof with tailgate, on the other a slightly too short Champ.
Be interested to know what the ride is like with a load, and the dearture angle leaves more than a little to be desired.
After getting a price for a Champ with trailer to go to Tassy on the Ferry, this maybe a cheaper alternative.
Rich.

Nice looking Champ on E-Bay at the moment

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Austin-Champ-...item336476a9b5

"This Austin Champ is in very good condition. Everything works well, although the brakes will require some attention as it has been stored in a shed for many years. It has a very quite motor and includes oringinal tools such as crank handle, shovel and pick. The vehicle does require two batteries.Inspections are welcome."

Ex Australian Army.

Not bad looking, in NSW:

Ex Australian Army, Rust issues maybe a more than the normal issue, as it appears that at some time in its chequered past, this Champ was used to launch boats at Warracknabeal.

Hi Ryan,
There are quite a few Champs/parts thereof with this seller in Gympie, the last one (Post 37) is now an hour down the road from me, and it was great to meet up with another local Champ owner.
I expect we will see more over the ensuing months.
Rich.

Thanks Tony.

"1955 Austin army jeep
Body in very good condition ,B40 fully submersible petrol engine, 4 speed forward and reverse hi - low range manual gearbox, side rifle holders, front windscreen's and frame, soft top frame all include in sale, all it needs is front headlights replacing and a new ignition switch the electrical system is 24 volts
. Hard to find original id plated army jeeps that have been to war and back and ended up surviving. "

The last line may well be true, I wonder what vehicle it refers to .....
The very good body has the sills rusted out/missing on the pass. side at least.
will have 5 speed box with no high/low gearbox.
Missing upholstery, back seat
Incorrect bumper and WAY incorrect steering wheel.
A coat of fresh paint can hide a multitude of evils.
Rich.
