Found this picture recently, purported to have been taken by Matchless in 1941 for the MOD

Now for a picture of my Dad in India in 1945. Dad was in the Royal Signals, and at the time this picture was taken, he was attached to the 1st Indian Armoured Div, Madras.
Now, prehaps you guys (and gals) can see why I have restored a G3L, sadly he never got to see the bike, but he did see the Chevy before I rebuilt her.

Les,

They are BSA M20, or M21, the latter being 600cc and I am sure AA use M21 on their outfits.

Certainly not. The first bike: The rear mudguard handles and rear number plate cries COVENTRY: Triumphs!

Les Freathy has attached this image:

Variations of head lamp black out masks occur, up to the introduction of the 'Lucas' pattern somewhere in 1941. Early black out head lamp covers vary from:
-1- half plated and half painted matt black reflectors,
-2- Blue painted headlamp glasses with a small opening in the shape of the letter D (on its side),
-3- similar but with some sort of paper/material inside the glass,
-4- and the protruding cylindrical extension with slots, as shown on the left hand bike.

Possibly there may have been more?

Rob
