Don't understand what is up either.
But I will also say that I regularly search the internet for information on Holmes W45 or similar wrecker information and there is relatively little out there. I’ve been looking for Holmes wrecker of that period and though I have found several “look like” I have not found and actual Holmes W45 wrecker that I can afford to buy and haul home.

What he is trying is Bull puckey..
Unless he has this info copyrighted ,which I doubt ,he dosen't "Own" the info in it and therefor can not limit reproduction..
To copy right is one thing ..to defend it is another...If he had the money to defend it he wouldn't be hawking repo manuals on E Bay..
I don't want a copy of it or I would "BUY NOW" ,,,,...and screw him..

good to see this one underway. Always seems strange to me to see a Chev axle coming out from under a Ford.

Question for the X-purts....
 

Wonderful job Dirk....... do you buy your own parts....

....must be nice having access toa whole warehouse of NOS CMP parts.

For the X-purts..... the front axle is referred to as a Chev axle and it looks like an early model with the extra beefed up reinforcements ribs and the solid cast one piece assembly with no bolted cover. )being a govenrment employee it takes me time to formulate my question)

Similar beefed up axles are found on some Ford F15a.... are they the same.... they look the same to me.... but are they really or is there a small early cast axle and a larger early cast axle....???

I have a Chev C15a with such a cast axle, I have seen one on the Gun tractor at Gunner's place and the 1942 Ford that Rob as acquired from Geoff has the similar small, all the same size, early cast axle.

Was there a large one for the 60 series???

....there I have asked it twice.

Is there a chance that I could have some detail photos and measurements so that I could make a true to scale 1/35 scale one for some of my future projects?

Your work on the truck looks great. The rear of the frame looks primo. Barry said him and Dirk banged it up a bit getting it in the container with the tractor bucket and it was already damaged. Looks like I tought you well. ;) Barry and Brian are making noises about going to Holland in July and leaving me to work alone. Will they be able to drive this thing in July or should I tell them to put their trip off till August. I hope you aren't as slow as when you worked here.

Just wonderful to see an F60H being restored, particularly as it's an early cab 11 version.

Thanks Keith, here are some pics of our fight with the chassis.
The chassis was a little curved but one hour later, straight.
Steven and I can start the first sandblasting job.

Looks good. Could I ask if I could have a detail photo taken facing along the chassis of the trailing axle mount both where it attaches to the chassis and also the way the axle attaches to it please?

Instrument Panel

For some reason totally unknown to me I have not as yet responded to this thread with regard to the instrument panel. It appears to be an early brown faced series of instruments and a Waltham speedometer (is Waltham scripted underneath the speedometer needle?) The fascia plate would be white with horizontal black stripes running across the centres. The only anomoly I can see is that it appears to be fitted with a silver face series Amp gauge. This may be a retro-fit as it should be a brown face series Batt gauge. See image. If I can help just yell out.

Small parts of the F60H, but the brake shoe's of the front axle are important.

I always thought the rear of the front spring went above the rear mount and not below. (photo by Tony Smith)

My friend I think it is easier to correct without the weight of the front axle hanging off the spring :)
