Thanks Rob, When the springs are made just let me know
Steve Kantner:salute: |
Well, I got the springs today. They look fine. I'll try them out Monday on my carrier; I still have one side un-assembled.
Anyway, I'm just waiting on the final invoice (I forgot about the shipping from the mfgr to me when I made my estimate) and then I'll have to see the post office about how much to mail them in Bubble wrap envelopes vs expresspost. I think I might prefer the expresspost as it comes with $100 insurance, and that way if Canada post loses one, it won't be my loss. As soon as I know, you'll know. Rob |
thanks rob, great job!!!!
|
Thanks Rob i'll be waiting for your bill.
Cheers BIG MIKE |
Well. the final bill finally came in, and with the shipping charges, the price will come to $6 cdn each, or $5 US for the guys that are SOBs (thats south of border; no offense)
Postage for the springs are under 2 options: bubble envelope at buyers risk for $3, or else Xpresspost bubble envelope insured for $10. Your choice. To the US guys, it will be $5 for the smaller orders; Dave, your order of 20 springs will be $10. Best method of payment for me is certapay EMT (but no paypal). If you bank online with any of the major charter banks you will have this service. Costs the sender $1.50 to send so it's about the same price as a stamp, an envelope, and a money order. Otherwise any form of currency will do. Cash in an envelope is sent at the shippers risk, but anytime I've done it this way, it's always worked. For the US guys, make sure that whatever payment you use is cashable here in Canada. US greenbacks are fine, but there is some problem with the "green postal money orders". So if the guys who indicated they want springs will PM me, we'll exchange contact info and get this underway. With nearly $600 extra on my M-card this month, it would be nice to get some of the funds back. There still remains about 24 springs, so if anyone else would like some, send me a message on this forum and I'll take the orders in the order they are received. Guys who are on the list now include: Walde, Steve K, Brad, Dave, Cliff, Sean, and Mike. |
Dave, your order of 20 springs will be $10.
WOW 20 springs for $10, thats a great price!!!! :note: |
Dats 10 dalla each, american GI!!! dave

At this point I've shipped the springs to everyone who ordered them. Some guys upped their orders and some guys down, so it all kind of balanced out. Same with shipping, sometimes I made a buck, and sometimes I lost one. The only real problem with this deal is the US dollar is doing poorly against the Cdn $. So the 20% I figured in the prices, once lowerexchange rates are factored and the bank takes their cut, works out to about 10%.
Anyway, I still have about 20 springs left, so anyone else who needs them, don't wait too long. It's been running between -21 at night to -11 in the day, so any carrier work is going to wait until spring. Has anyone installed their springs yet? |
Rob, I got my springs in the mail yesterday I must say very nice Job:D Now I have spares if I need them.
Thanks Again, Big Steve Kantner CT113354 56th Recce 78th Battleaxe Div. |
thats the way the world works, i start the thread and i will be the last one to get mine :D

Brad should the springs be dipped in sum sort of grease to prevent rust? and brake shoes can people get these or can you put new pads on old shoes?,
Cheers BIG MIKE |
mike, go to your local clutch place, its the same matirial as the pads
|
Dave, can you explain more in detail? ie Clutch place? do they install the pads on new shoes is all i'm asking.
Mike |
clutch place= place that recons clutch plates with new disk pads.
they can rerivit break pads |
Hi Guys, sorry to interupt, but when you bring in your shoes to be RE-LINED, take in your drum, so that they can get the proper curve and thickness of the shoe lining. It wouldn't hurt to bring in the original thickness spec. just to show them.
Paul |
paul is 100% corect, its better to bring in everything so you get a good fit.
dave |
THaTs Rite DAVE so Bring everyThing in, LOLJust get me that POLType 2 can holder by springtime , THanks
BIG MERRY MIKE |
mike, please dont take in the rear dif. and then tell me im silly. ok?
and will have the holders in soon (i hope) dave:drunk: |
Brian Asbury has the brake linings listed as available seperately. In Brandon (a city of about 40,000) there was only one shop left that would reline the brakeshoes. It cost me $220 for the set of four and of that charge the lining material was around $120. They are bonded rather than rivetted, so in theory will last longer, but I'm not so sure I'll ever wear them out.
It's supposed to warm up to 0 this weekend, so I may sneak away from Xmas diner to install my brakes into my carrier. (But honestly, it's just a hobby and not an addiction) |
yea rob, keep telling yourself that, and then it will be true.
by the way, its going to be cold here too. suposed to drop to 55 today, and be in the 70s on christmas day.:D |

I"M LEARNING FAST, CHEERS BIG MIKE |
