Ah, but whatever you have, You'll get more of it if you convert it into Aussie dollars! (Sorry, offer does not apply to NZers)

Max Hedges 12-09-05 00:41

money

Trying to give you a hint Jiff you get people to make their bookings through you and you take a commission out of that for your time. All you have to do is book their accommadtion through us Aussies and tell us to organise a trip somewhere.

I shot a couple of rabbits yesterday so the stew is right for meat, others will provide the other ingredients. any offers.

Cliff have you a recipe for cane toads for skagfield?

Max

Yep I can organise that Max. Just need to hire a bunch of golf clubs from the local golf course and we can then get these visitors to hunt their own for dinner.:yappy: .

Another recipe is for the cane toad to be a roadkill victim and at least 5 days old. Trouble with this is these visitors probably drive on the wrong side of the road to us and there is a danger that they may be looking the wrong way during harvest and become a Road kill victim themselves! :(

But I am sure we can organise something without to much trouble Max :D

cheers

I didn't know what a "cane frog" was so I googled and came up with this site about frogs ... if you visit the (below) link scroll way, way down, you'll find information about the cane toad in Australia:

Hmmmm ... Australia just keeps sounding better and better all the time :smoker:

Idon't know Dave you'll have to promise not to look like a typical pomme and not to talk cricket, then and only then you might be safe. The media out here are saying that the pommes had to use players from other countries including Australia to win the game. Anyway it's only a game of cricket so well done after all these years. If you come we'll look after you as my old man is pommie.

After I saw the start of this thread, I casually mentioned to Betty...

"How would you like to visit Australia next March?"

She replied...

"Oh, we couldn't afford for both of us to go. Maybe you can go yourself and meet some of your MLU buddies. Let's think about it."

Hmmm...the seed has been planted. Stay tuned.

 :D

a russell adventure

I've been talking to russell, he's keen to put on another trip through the mountains after Corowa next year russell (Mark Sierant) is repairing and servicing his vechicle after the trip into central Australia. He is handy with a camp oven.

Max

Mark Sierant 13-09-05 05:01

Corowa to the Mountains and onto the Sea

I have had the maps out and have plotted a course to the SE from Corowa. Crossing the mountains into the Wanangata Valley for some bush camps. Then over the ridges to Licola onto Woods Point for a look at some old gold towns, real two headed country this. Then around to Rawson and Valhala with rest days along the way. Then onto the Ocean at Lakes Entrance, the Mexicans can leave from here and the Northern boys can meander up the coast for a couple of beachside camps.

PS the 6 weeks of camping on the inland have added to my already large list of camp oven meals. I have know perfected the Tawny Port Roast, the Rum Damper and best of all the hangover cure. 200km of bouncy old tracks

So :sheep: skip to it and get your trucks ready and plane tickets booked.

Geoff Winnington-Ball (RIP) 13-09-05 05:13

If Jon and I showed up there together, you Ozmanian devils would never get over us...

:drunk:

Mark Sierant 13-09-05 05:32

You Bring That Candain Malt

'We will get over it together' I'll bring the rum and port for cooking with you bring that Candian Malt that Cathy and Max sip on. Then mix it all together with a campfire and some scenery and nice bullshit and Hey Presto we have a "International MLU Convention"

Jon Skagfeld 13-09-05 06:04

I've left a message on John Travolta's answering machine, to see if he's busy next March. :D

Well, as a keen gardener would do, all you have to do is keep plying on the manure and in 6 mths you can reap the harvest.

Cane Toad Recipe

Cliff, as a master chef I partially agree with you about jugged cane toad, but the best way to eat them is immediately after they become road kill. That way you don't have to heat them up twice and none of the minerals and vitamins degrade with age.

We feel the same about our roadkill. Every spring, the deer start wandering with predictable results; driving down every country road you can see people pulled over to the side eating their fill before it gets cold. Yummmmmm!

Max Hedges 14-09-05 12:55

Corowa

Bob or Tony, do you have the dates for corowa next year? WE had better let the overseas travellers know when it is.
I like my road kill cooked fellas
Max

Tony Smith 14-09-05 13:55

Gee, Max, couldn't you just reach across the kitchen table and tap Brother John on the shoulder and ask him?

Corowa 2006 (Year of theArmoured Car) runs from Monday, 13 Mar 06 to Sunday, 19 Mar 06.

For further event info, contact John Hedges
For accomodation or transport assistance for overseas travellers, try HERE.

Max Hedges 15-09-05 00:46

brother

was out and about last night. I'll use Geoff's excuse I was to tired to look it up, thanks anyway.
Corowa, March 13th to 19th
trip home through the mountains, leaving Corowa Sunday and taking about aweek to drive back to Yass.
THose who book early will get the best accommondation, those who book late camp outside in the tent

Max

Mark Sierant 15-09-05 01:04

A Week?

The timetable will be dependent on breakdowns and repairs required on vehicles. Please be aware that these repairs are educational and should not be considered a delay but an enhancment in Knowledge. PLUS they provide enterainment beyond what a movie ticket can provide.

MAX is probally the best or "luckiest" Bush Mechanic I know. Anything can be patched up with something that comes to hand. This however will add about a day and half to any expected trip because repairs are made every hour on the hour and are followed by Tea and Bikkies.

:dh:

Max Hedges 15-09-05 01:23

the secret is

DON"T PANIC
Russel your not bad entertainment around the camp fire yourself.
I do rather cake than bikkies but when we go bush I make do.

Max
PS you should see russell when he's seeing the drop bears

cliff 15-09-05 04:11

hmmm room in a vehicle for an old cripple and a fold up wheelchair? May see if I can get there for this event. Main prob will be transport out to Corowa from the nearest airport for me and the Mrs. Be better if I book a motel in town for the Corowa part though.

cheers
Cliff:salute:

Max Hedges 15-09-05 12:51
