Minor Thread Hijack- reply
Hi Jon
Yes I did have the pleasure of attending one evening when my father was the honored guest on his retirement from Navy Department as a civilian scientist. By the way there is a new web site for the Washington Marine Barracks http://www.marines.mil/unit/barracks/pages/welcome.aspx As a kid I would go watch the Marine, Navy, and Air Force marching bands practice on a field near our home. Once they closed Bowling Air Force base and Anacostia Naval Air Station as active fields the bands moved on to the run ways there. Particularly enjoyed it when the bag pipe units would practice. Oh dear... what a poor caption to a great image!
Cab 12, unit sign is 79 (not a 'Military Police vehicle Number 79'!) and the 'truck' in the background is a No.2 Breakdown lorry, doubtless come to recover the poor wee bogged Chev 4x2 ..... Mike C |
Ski school
There was a official military ski school in Syria where AIF troops learnt to ski .
Seems like a huge anomoly but life is strange . And, look at whats going on in Syria as we speak . A despotic lunatic is in charge of the country , again. Mike |
