The engine serial on the plate is: WR3936949

It is only 6 days between our trucks then. And they were on the same contrackt....
If they were delivered to the same unit, they sould be marked the same then....
Yes Vic, it was the timer switch I was thinking of. Could not remember what it is called in english...:rolleyes:

I do not have the fans, but have a Core Horse Generator (shall be two of them), which is charging 130 Ah 12 V so there should be enough power. I recon I will be able to trace the fans. There is a little "news" for you in the envelope going to you Vic.

it MAY BE WORTH A MENTION THAT THE OTHER RADIO TRUCK OF OURS THATS THE ONE WITHOUT THE BODY WHEN WE FIRST GOT IT SOME YEARS BACK IT HAD A BREAKDOWN BODY FORMED
BY CUTTING DOWN WHAT WE NOW REALISE WAS A WOODEN RADIO BODY IM WONDERING IF THIS ACCOUNTS FOR THE STRANGE WHEEL CARRIER I CANT IMAGINE THEM FITTING A BURNER ONTO A WOODEN BODY THE BOARDS WERE AN INCH THICK AND WE DO HAVE A PICTURE OF THIS AS WE BOUGHT IT
UNFORTUNATLY WE THREW IT ALL AWAY BUT THE LOWER BEAMS WERE ALL NUMBERED WITH YELLOW PAINT AND LOOKED AS THOUGH IT WAS BRITISH BUILT IT HAD STEEL MUDGUARDS AT THE REAR AS YOU WILL SEE IN THE PHOTO WHEN I CAN GET MARTIN TO SEND IT VIC UK . GOING BY THE PLATES ON THAT TRUCK IT WAS MUCH EARLIER THAN THE ONES WE ARE TALKING OF AT THE MOMENT REGARDS VIC UK .

There are to many vehicles that was cut down. And of course it is those that are really rear today. Espessially the Gun Tractors was cut down and used as sivilian wreckers hence the powerfull winch. But then they had to use what was around and we can just take it further on,as a part of the vehicles history. And remember, most of the vehicles life was spent as a "sivilian" Workhorse......

But would be nice to see the pictures of the wooden house body, and it might be as you say that the heater was mounted on the wheel carrier on that wooden body. It makes sence.

What are the serialnumber and date of Manufacturing of that truck?

IT was interesting to learn that you have the chore horse
generator thats something else that will be almost impossible to find i think there doesnt seem to be much room for two of them they must have been very small or on top of each other i have now made the shutters move they had been sealed up i would like to see a picture of one if thats at all possable but getting back to the heater , from your photoes it looks as though its made of cast iron at the bottom must have been quite heavy
i wonder how eficiant it was i hope it was better than the overflow tanks were talking of the dilutor elec switch i dont think the chev had that the dilutor tank was filled by the fuel pump until it overflowed then diverted to the engine sump perhaps the ford was differnt i have a new one of those vic uk

it was when I got the Core Horse Generator. I was offered it since I have a few CMP's and the bloke meant it would have a nicer home at me than at his place among German vehicles...:D

It was two Core Horse's in the wireless. They was situated in the rear right corner on top of each other, and they could be reached from the inside or outside where the hatch is.
I will try to make some photos tomorrow.
I don't know how good the heater was, but assume it was capable to substain a good working temperature in sub zero areas. Just imaging a radio operator with frozen fingers at the morse key (if there was a morse key in in), or tuning in to the right band width...
I to guess the heater is heavy. It is still atached to the body so I don't know the wight of it. The burneer pot is placed at the bottom of it. I guess you will have the manual late this week, and there is a drawing of it.

Chevrolet had the electric delluter. It is shown in the manual :)
But in my wireless it is not suposed to be. There is the dillutor tank in the window. I have another Chev needing one. So if anyone having one for sale, I am interessted!!

Was taking some pictures of the Core Horse, but having problem with this d.... machine called computer....
I also have some very good pictures of the interior of a wireless, and "have a go" from Alex Blair who tok rhem for me. So I will mail them to you as soon I get this thing working properly again...
BTW: Look at Alex's homepages. He has lots and lots of very good manuals.

First i must say thank you so very much for the info on the body heater it arrived today , it looks a very complicated piece
of equip and a great challenge for you to get it running again i looked at mine to see if the holes were there that held the fuel tank and sure enough there they were on the passenger side just below the roof line six holes in all ,the fact that there is so much on one truck makes it all the more interesting for me at least now i can lay one old ghost to rest i now know all about this heater or rather will do when i have eaton slept and drank it
trying to make one of those would pose a few problems i bet
once upon a time everything looked like an engine cowling in scrap yards when we were looking for one now it will all look like
heaters from a distance as i said before there may be one in someon es green house but which one !this is not going to be easy i demand that everybody starts looking especialy on thier holidays! vic uk

And Yes the heater is a bit complicated. Don't know if I ever will take the chanse to use it when restored....
And there probarbly are one in someones green house, and I gues we all will do as comanded, and search for one heater for you

Have put in a picture of the Generator I have. I also have the dataplate for it, but it is not on the picture. And it is running..
I will scan the pictures from Alex as soon as possibly...

Hope you ar well i have just found a picture of an ambulance
and it showes the heater you can just make out the fuel cap on top of the fuel tank it looks to me as though you would have to climb onto the roof the fill up the tank for the heater ok in nice dry weather but in arctic conditions it must have been somewhat of
a problem i bet that was a job no one wanted imagine climbing
that rear ladder with a can of petrol in freezing conditions not to mention walking on the roof on snow . vic uk

Well th at is a strange looking generator never seen anything like that before cant for the life of me see how that works from the picture martin is going to put the wheel carrier pictures on so you can see them note the countersunk holes
are for screws going down for some reason if doesnt look as though they have been home done so to speak its all very neat
. is that generator petrol fuled rolf cant make out what the spoked wheet on it is ? vic uk

Been looking at the generator through a magnifying glass
and it looks to me as though its a small petrol engine on the right
as i think i can see a plug lead and what looks like link belting
going from one pully to the other and driving a type of magneto
i can see what looks like either a fuel pump or a fuel filter not sure what the silver pipe is and the truth is im not sure what any of it is just guessing so ill wait until you decribe it i think . sorry to have nothing but questions for you rolf lets hope ill be able to provide you with answers someday.. vic uk

Have been buissy today, driving the jeep and helping a local Am-Car club.
Yeah I can see the strugle climbing the roof in a snow-storm to fill gas on the heater tank....
Would be interessting to se the ambulance.
Yes, the generator is petrol driven, and it gets it fuel from one of the main tanks on the truck. The spoke wheel is driven by the engine, via a belt (linked one as you correctly has seen) and it is linked to a fuelpump as you say. The pump is a little cute thing. Imaging how little fuel that engine needs... The silver thing is the exhaust line (flexible) and it is a smal silencer (like a muschrom) at the end of it. Have tryed to find info on the engine, but not too lucky yet. Did find a site on those engines, but cant remember where, and most of them were post wars. It is charging 12 volts and has a capasity up to 130 Amph. It is undergoing some repears from time to time, thats why the belt is not in place..
The wheel carrier is not like the one on my truck. Well a bit different it is. I will try to make a picture of mine. The bolt holes with the countersunk holes lookes strange. And it seems as if there is ment to be something on the "inside" ie. the side the wheel is on. Why have countersunk holes if anything is mounted on that side? Must have been something on both sides perhaps?
Am strugling to scan the pictures from Alex, but are working on it...

Many thanks for the gen picture its very clear indeed its a neat little unit i reckon there is about as much chance of finding one of those here as there is finding a dinosor sitting on her nest
but at least i now know what to look for martin took some more photoes of the truck tonight so you may see that i have now made the lockers that fit either side we have one orignal to copy from so should the need arise ill do drawings for you .thanks for your continuing help to us and our radio truck. we have learned a lot since contacting you rolf and we appreciate it a lot

great with the lockers on. Do you know if they are the same size as on the C60L??
I do not have them on my C30 Wire, so I have to make them when time comes. But I do think there are about 2000 houres restoring before I have to think about them :)
And is nice to know that someone can learn a little bit from me too, so just keep asking.
And the truck looks great. It is good to know that such a rare vehicle is still on the road...
Maybe the generator is just as hard to find as a dinosaurus on her nest, but can't be as hard as finding a heens teeth..............

That gave me a laugh ! Hens teeth , i would never have thought of that i thought they did have teeth oh well you learn something new every day . i just put evanair heaters on google
but got nowhere i guess they couldnt wait for me to come alongand shut up shop i think ill send out a circular to every scrap yard in the country for generators and heaters i wonder why they
didnt put a generator in that could have given them mains power
and then a battery charger from that. oh well something only they will ever know i expect. sometimes i wish i had been born a little earlieralthough i did see quite a lot including new ford canadas in a sand pit where my mates dad used to drive a dragline there were two of them as well a lot of these trucks were used as sand lorries after the war . i used to make models of them from maccano. if yiou remember that ..vic uk

Ah, something I understand. This involves tipping copious quantities of alcoholic beverage down the neck of one Binnington-Swall, alternate scotch/beer seems to do it quite efficiently.

Hope you are keeping well i have set about making a rear body heater on the lines of the petrol one but will use gas it will consist of two eight inch dia by half inch thick plates bored for twenty five copper pipes one plate top and bottom with a two inch aluminium core eleven inches high and aluminium discs also
bored with twenty five holes there will be a dozen of these for the fan to blow across the gas fumes will pass through the copper pipes and into the chimmny the return air fan will pass the returned air back around the outside of the chimmny and back through the heat exchanger into the rear body .

Hope you are well im getting along with the home made heater i should soon be able to send you a picture of the exchanger i have made it seems to work when i blow an airline through it just have to find two suitable fans then make the outer cowling ,im not looking forward to that. the cylinder of gas will be inside the rear body

Yes I am well, and are just waiting for the spring. Hope you are well.
It is a big project you are trying with the heater. Guess you don't like to freeze....
I have forgotten to do anything with the heater. If the weater is OK I will try to dismantle it and make some pictures.

Have started to "look at" my C15. It is only the driveline and chassis that can be used, but thats a good start... I am restoring some small part during the winter and putting them on the shelf so they are redy to go into the C15 in due time.

Yes the diluter time switch is mostly wanted.
