Based on the drawing, it is actually not to difficult to recreate a condenser can with simple tools and small adjustments to the design

Cool little project, Niels! :)

Nicely done. Would it be possible for you to explain a bit more in detail how you made the edge around the can?

Hi Jordan
I cheated, compared with the original design.
I experimented to started with trying to do it correctly, but I simply could not get the metal moved first one way and then back around without everything bulging out. I found I really need a Shrinker/Stretcher for that.
I opted to make each end in "three" pieces, a central lid, the wall and then a outstrip, and then spotwelded everything together, then a lot of filing and griding, to remove excess material and creating the shape of a folded edge.

Thanks for the further explanation. It looks great

Looks Good

Hi Niels

Looks good and a very important part of the cooling system. If the cooling system is air tight these recovery tanks do a lot more than preventing coolant from ending up on the ground. The tanks keep the radiator full, full of coolant, on my Pattern 12 C60L on a warm day 80F that means 1/3 - 1/2 liter is push into the tank and drawn back into radiator every heat cycle.

On all three of my CMPs you can tell the tanks are doing their jobs keeping the radiators full, I deliberately run my recovery tanks 1/2 full of coolant. Installing the coolant tank on the Pattern 12 also coincided with solving a chronic overheating problem.

Cheers Phil
