Hi Paul,
There is a piece of angle about 1.5''x1.5'' that bolts to the flywheel housing with the two holes you can see and covers the gap.

Thanks Terry I will make one, had to be something there and yes having two Champs I am well aware of the strange ways of British design.
Many thanks and the more I crawl under this truck the more strange things I am finding. MLU to the rescue.
