With ref. to Michael R's post #20, I would expect that the 8 1/2" hose was for use with the short inlet pumps.
The 8BA hoses work well shape wise and the length is enough if fitted with care. Now I wonder how a straight piece of silicon hose would go as an alternative? (not that I have a plan to try some)
Does it bend a bit, without kinking or is it the same as a bit of std. rubber hose?
