Yes that was me, but I didn't have a chance against Ron Fry.
Spoke to Ron afterwards he was willing to double what he paid for it.

Some other stuff.
4x UK type carrier wheels $200
2x Aus type carrier wheels $50
75mm gun mantlet off grant tank $1500
2x NOS Cent tank wheels $40
Matilda or possibly Stuart tank turret ring $160

Slim pickin's in my cookie jar at moment too, so didn't go. Couldn't join Matt either :(
Sounds like a bit of competition for the Grant side mantlet.
Matilda and Grant and Stag might have similar size turret rings but Stuarts have a gear in the turret and rollers on the top deck...does anyone know which tank it was for? If Grant it'd comprise about 3 rings plus the ring gear plus bearings and brass bearing spreaders all bolted together to form a unit.
Stag is similar to Grant except has a sloping lower-outer face and the gear is cut from that same ring instead of being a seperate boltable item. Also the Stag top deck has a weld most of the way around the ring so if the ring was cut out you'd see the shiny weld bead around the edge.

Alex

Hi Alex, I can definately say it was not for a Stuart so my guess is it was for a Matilda. Very, Very, cheap. Purchased by Mr Bellfield.
Colin.

Hi Colin,

Reckon you will have it ready for Corowa ?

Jan Thompson 31-10-11 09:49

Maybe we should ask Simone! She gave Colin the permission to purchase it.

Now, I don't know if Simone will have it ready as I bought it on her behalf.
She wanted the wrecker and I wanted a new dining room suite, but hey who am I to argue. She finished work early today so she could get home to adjust the clutch while I was getting dinner and bathing the kids. :fry:

Today I received a call from the guy who purchased the DUKW. It appears he is finding out what the vehicle is missing through trial and error. He is anxious to get it in the water but needs to get bungs first. He doesn't even have a manual so I suggested he needs to make sure he gets one and becomes familiar with all the procedures. He mentioned that it goes well and he has had it driving around his 140 acre property. After I was asked a few questions I suggested that it was best if he speaks to a person who had previously owed a DUKW. I contacted Albert Bowden and he will be contacting the new owner.
