Flicking through a recent facebook page on memories of Wellington and this Little Ford F15 popped up
Not in the background but close enough |
Background?
Looks suspiciously like foreground in one of the shots, but a nice find. Love the branding on the bumper.
|
Love the V8 symbol.
Great photo's AJ,
Love the livery all over the truck. Not to mention the dealership, brings joy to the heart of a Ford lover. Would love to know it that truck still exists. (I've no doubt you've been down that route). Would've been a beauty to keep as it presents in these photos and have it at this years Corowa. |
She is a little beauty
Love the "Whitewall " Chevrons :thup2: Havent seen a F15 around the area for as long as I can remember. I am guessing photos were taken at least 15-20 years before my birthdate |
With the bowsers on the footpath you could be in trouble with a filler on the r/h side of your vehicle.
We used to call service stations that sold several brands of petrol 'independents'. Here you can see Ampol, Shell and Plume, all of which are familiar but Purr Pull? Never heard of that one. Was it a power kerosine perhaps? David |
Just had a trawl through Google earth and found the building, it is in Swift St, and is now the 'Orana Aboriginal ??, no sign of the Ford though LOL (shame) cheers Dennis :sheep:

Orana Aboriginal Corporation (Lands I think) |
Dave - Purr Pull was petrol - I remember my Dad talking about it.

Purr Pull was a brand marketed by Independent Oil Industries of Sydney they also sold Purr Star and Resis Oil. The company was brought out by Smith Wylie (Aust) Pty Ltd in Queensland who ran the company as Purr Pull Industries and then in 1954 H.C. Sleight took over Purr Pull Industries Pty Ltd. dropping the Purr Pull and Star brands and selling it as Golden Fleece. |

Tim Lovelock's post of the firefighting vehicle has an excellent example of an "in the background" photograph:

Posts 551 and 562. Same building in the background??? Were all these vehicles around at the same time, and what the heck is that big circular saw blade thingie on the front of that pumper?
David |
It's exactly what you think it is.
It's a hole saw for crashed aircraft fuselage penetration. Australian engineering at its finest. I think it was on a White or Indiana bus chassis
