Chev fuel tap

Quote:

WW2 EX ARMY CHEVROLET BLITZ TWO-WAY FUEL TAP. This tap is slightly unusual in that it marked L – BOTH – R which in the central position allows fuel to be drawn from both tanks simultaneously.
Find it on eBay

Not a C60X

Looking at the dual rear wheel arrangement and the type of fuel tank it looks like that it is a C60X.

Whilst it appears to be a C60X this was actually a C60S with a lazy axle and probable chassis extension. It's a late production version, WO97 which means it was originally a "Trucks, tipping 2 1/2 yard (Aust) No4".

It was inspected by a friend yesterday who reported it is at a chicken farm and was used for an interesting if smelly purpose: The mixer was filled with a mix of birds that had died and chicken poo and used to make compost.

That has to be THE rarest use of a Blitz truck ever! :smoker:

Jeep Prices

Those prices have not dropped $10k. They all have reserves on them. That is why I stopped chasing Jeeps and have gone for an F15. Jeeps are a stupid price especially the $28k one.

I seem to have found in speaking to alot of guys all over the country wanting a jeep and looking at alot of jeeps for sale closely (both them and myself), a few things.

Everyone thinks theirs is restored and factory correct but not many are- they are good strong running jeeps with elements of factory correct. People also then think their jeep is worth the price paid at the marathon auctions over the past few years- but again, they arent because they arnt brand new, nor are they near close to correct for the 'serial number'- even though the 2 high priced marathon ones were repro's. Even these prices for jeeps have dropped at the last auction (but not US trailers!)

For those looking, good jeeps can still be had for a decent price- but not usually on ebay (and when they are, they arent local!). People are alot better informed now about what makes a good jeep (sites like g503.com and this one as well as many others have helped that) and as such, for many I have spoken to in the past few years wanting a jeep, if it isnt more or less close to correct (regarless of condition) for a 'restored'vehicle needing work, it isnt worth worrying about- hence alot of jeeps dont sell on ebay.

I still struggle to understand why someone would pay ALOT of money on ebay for a vehicle with no to little information and only a few (or 1 in many cases) fuzzy photo's. Maybe if people spent the extra dollar or 2 and put up more photo's and the extra 30 minutes to write a decent description and do some research on their vehicle, they may get closer to the price they are hoping for- they wouldnt sell their house with out doing research or trying to spruce it up for sale, so why not apply the same logic to their vehicle?

For the money some people want for their jeeps, I and many I speak to want alot more than what is on offer in terms of correct parts to match the jeeps serial number- these are the jeeps which sell and sell for the price owners are asking. Food for thought.

I am not knocking the jeeps for sale above- each to their own and to their owners credit, they are each good vehicles. I am just pointing out what i have heard from those wanting to buy when i have spoken to them about vehicles they and I have seen.

Enough from me! :)
Ian.

I concur and I often wonder why people do not clean their Jeep when putting it up for sale. Many of them are still covered in mud from offroading or dust from storage.

:confused

Not to mention a true description, we have seen a Mahindra advertised as a '42 Jeep here on an MLU thread, and I have seen a '52 SOLD as a '42....
